Marriage Counseling
As a pastor and therapist I've worked with couples for over 30 years providing Biblically based pre-marital and relationship counseling. I like to start by having a couple complete the Prepare/Enrich online assessment followed by 6 to 8 feedback sessions. This process helps you identify and understand your strengths and growth areas as a couple. You will learn the important relationship skills needed to build a strong and happy marriage.
What Couples Learn In Marriage Counseling
Identify your strengths as a couple and build new ones
Strengthen your communication skills
Uncover stressful areas and resolve conflicts
Explore your families of origin
Comfortably discuss financial issues
Establish personal, couple, and family goals
Understand and appreciate personality differences
Why Have Couples Counseling
Your marriage is one of the most important relationships you will ever have. Like any quality relationship, to get a lot out of it, you must put a lot into it. A successful marriage takes an investment of time, effort, and commitment to your partner and the relationship.
It takes trust, honesty, sharing your goals and dreams and understanding each other's values and outlooks on life. It also requires good listening skills, having an open mind, and a whole list of other qualities that are sometimes overlooked.
One vital key is healthy communication that enables you to create a safe environment for open discussion. In couples counseling you will gain tools that are scientifically proven to help couples establish honest, open dialogue about some of the most difficult and challenging topics.
You will find it easier to understand your partner and create a deeper, healthier relationship and sustain it over the years to come.
